I can't even imagine how heavy these bananas are on that bicycle. But, this guy does this nearly every day. Check out the HUGE knife on the front of the bike. YIKES!
Thinking about building a new hotel? Grab some sticks and a few small tree trunks and...VOILA! - Scaffolding. This was outside of my hotel in Uganda -wouldn't want to climb on this with heavy equipment.
Makes you think, doesn't it? What would we do if, all of a sudden, our Western Civilization creature comforts weren't available to us anymore? Do you think we would be able to be as inventive and creative and resourceful as those people who live in places on this earth where necessity is the mother of invention?
OK - so I think that photographs are almost as good as being there. I mean, just looking at a photo from some beautiful beach or island or mountain makes me imagine that I'm right there. That is, if the photo is a good one. I'm not talking about those horrible vacation photos that people make you look at when they get back from their most recent jaunt. That's just worse than capital punishment!
I'm talking about those photos that seem to be almost 3 dimensional. Photos that call your soul and the travel junkie that I believe is inside of all of us. Photos of expansive skies, blue-green seas and mountain vistas. Photos of interesting cities and architectural beauties.
These photos can give you a one minute vacation just by looking at them. They stir a longing inside to get in a car, on a plane or boat or moped and go somewhere new and interesting.
This world is a marvelous place, full of different people and places. If you can't explore it right now - then, hang some photos in your home or office and make a point to take a one minute vacation anytime the stress gets a bit too much to handle.
